Treaty or Trick?
The 6th Frontier War ended abruptly and unexpectedly. Some say it ended just as the Imperial forces were poised to take decisive action against the Zhodani, action that would have ended the war with a victory for the Imperium. Instead, the so-called "Pragmatic Solution" was put into place, creating the Neutral Zone. And now, years later, the Zhodani happily agree to cede back to the Imperium the territories gained during the war, and to return to the original, prewar borders. Why? Have the Zhodani suddenly had a change of heart?? They certainly gain nothing from the new treaty, so why are they doing it?

The self-professed "mainstream press", from deep within their masters' pockets, would have you believe that the treaty is the result of "brilliant negotiating"; that Paolo Astridi or Grand Admiral Grey (depending on which official line you choose to swallow) magically pulled this political miracle by "sheer force of will", or "superior intellect". If it makes you sleep easier at night, by all means go ahead and believe this fairy tale, but don't expect Free Thoughts to contribute to your delusion.

The truth of the matter, the real truth, is that the so-called "negotiated treaty" was merely the next step in a carefully orchestrated plan between the Zhodani and the

 secret pro-psionic cabal at work in the Imperium. Now that this phase of their experiments within the Neutral Zone has been completed, the Neutral Zone itself is no longer of any use. So we are once more drawn back into the mainstream of the Imperium, and the next phase can begin.

Naturally, the Imperial government denies the truth. Naturally, so do the Zhodani. But these denials are merely the lies of the inner circle, or the blind assurances of the uninitiated; neither are to be trusted.

Of what will the next phase consist? We don't yet know any of those details. What we will be bringing you over the course of future issues is more information on the players involved, and, God willing, some clues on the cabal's next moves, so that we can take the necessary precautions to protect ourselves and our families.

Our sources of information come from within all levels of the governments involved, from people who are risking their safety, their lives, their very minds and souls in a desperate attempt to see that the truth is made known.

Whatever the cost, only the truth can keep us free.
