Facts vs. Fiction |

Once again Free Thoughts is the only newsfax to bring its readers the real facts, the real truth behind the lies. After the embarrassingly inaccurate article on the duel in the park, it's obvious that the Regina Times has given up all pretense of factual reporting, and the Tattler is nothing more than a comic book attempt to cloak the truth in deliberately ludicrous monster stories.
In the aftermath of the duel in the park, we get our first true glimpse of Regina's new leader, John Fitzpatrick Collingwood, as he leads the troops into our streets. Martial law, and a very convenient curfew allowed everyone except the general law-abiding public roam the Up Port at will, with no annoying witnesses. How convenient. Collingwood and his cronies would have us believe that all of Regina's problems are caused by Mercer Black, the Director of Regina Security. So, along with some other remnants of previous legitimate governments of Regina, Black will be dragged in front of the Collingwood-appointed "Regina Senate Inquiry into Public Corruption". A public inquiry, allowing Collingwood's senators to trot out any accusations he wants, about anyone he feels the need to dispose of. |
A public "inquiry", but not a trial. A trial would allow those accused to give their side of the story, to call witnesses to dispute the charges against them, and we can't have that, now can we? Some one might ask embarassing questions. Some one might present information the public doesn't really "need to know".
Perhaps we should send a "Thank you" note to Collingwood, for protecting us from the truth, like good little children. Or we may find ourselves on his next "hit list". We will be watching the "proceedings" very carefully tomorrow. So will others. Some of those we see will be pawns, willing or unwilling. Some will be the players. Some will be the gamemasters. Of course, what we do not see will be even more important. Who is not there? Who are the people who determined just exactly who and what we will see? They are sure to be watching. Don't expect to see them on the big screen, but you will be reading their names. Here. And soon. |
