TREATY ANNOUNCED!Astridi Ends War, Names Regent Governor |
|
Negotiations between the Imperial and Zhodani delegations have finally culminated in the formal signing of the Treaty ending the Sixth Frontier War. Archduke Astridi announced the signing of the Treaty at a press conference today. Under the terms of the Treaty, the Imperial-Zhodani border would revert to their prewar boundaries and the neutral zone would be abolished. | At that same conference, Archduke Astridi announced the appointment of Regent Corina Ling-Raleigh as the Acting Imperial governor for Regina. The Regent was not present at the press conference for comment on her new appointment. However, her appointment as acting governor seems to reflect the Imperial desire for a measured response to Regina's re-assimilation into the empire. |

Assassins Arrested for Starport Shooting, Bombing Spree |
|
In a startling series of related crimes that began this morning, Behrel Dom Camreal was wounded in a bombing; a man (whose name is being withheld by authorities pending notification of relatives) was shot by a sniper through the front window of the Bread and Bean; a number of Imperial Marines were caught in what seemed to be a travelling gunfight, originating near the Bread and Bean; Ghere Raller was also wounded in an attempted assassination by bomb, and the Regent's Limousine was wrecked during an assault on it by an assailant using a PGMP. This assassin was killed in a gunfight with the Regent's bodyguard near the wrecked vehicle.
This is the second assassination attempt that the Regent has survived since the multiple deaths in the former ruling Aledon house. It's enough to make even a non-superstitious person wonder about a curse. |
In a sterling piece of police work by Commissioner Globber and his men, the potential assassins were identified, located and rounded up.
Commissioner Globber stated that "it was just basic police work to identify the signature elements common that all of the relates crime scenes and to then correlate these with the known Modus Operendi of everyone who had been arrested on Regina during the last 20 years." Perhaps that was just basic police work, but the citizens of Regina can feel safer knowing that the police have apprehended these indiscriminate killers, and they've done it before the bad guys racked up an extensive body count. Kudos to the police for a job well done. |
